Day 76: Nha Trang

Unfortunately, we were unable to book a sleeper train to get to Nha Trang and had to take the morning train. A somewhat long train ride that would have been best spent while sleeping. The small bit of the train ride that took us by the coast was amazing. The water is getting bluer and bluer as we get further south.

We got a dorm room at a good backpacker hostel, that was close to all the late night action. Nha Trang is know as more of a backpacker party place; a "hedonistic town" as referred to by Lonely Planet of Vietnam, or at least our bootleg copy we picked up.

Per usual, we rented mopeds and explored the city with what little daylight we had. The coastal town is big and more populated than the small ones we have been in. Driving the mopeds through the traffic is a lot of fun. Robbie and I went ahead and booked a booze cruise throughout the bay for the following day, expecting a fun journey through the bay filled with snorkeling and drinking, while Boyd booked a scuba diving trip.

Our night took us to a great bar that was connected to our hostel. It was a great place for us and our dorm mates to get to know each other. After exiting the Red Apple, we headed down to the area with more of the late night bars. Outside of each bar were Westerners, who worked there, trying to get us to come in. If you think about it, that's a pretty good idea. I'm used to being haggled by locals all day and now a friendly Western face is handing me multiple free shots like a normal nice person; you've got my attention! After walking from bar to bar, we finally realized that we are truly in the off season of the area, the bars were at about 30-50% capacity; however, the people and the drinks kept us busy throughout the night.
