Day 33: Alipura

Spent the morning on a bumpy and long four hour drive to Khajuraho to see the West Group of Temples, another UNSECO World Heritage Site. These temples are known for their kamasutra origins. There are four main temples, each of them are different because they were built by different rulers and the size and detail was dependent on their wealth at the time.

The temples were small compared to what I have seen in India thus far, but the engravings/sculptures were... unique. Some of them were of soldiers and their horses in or preparing for battle. However, a majority of them were of large breasted women, wearing, what I would consider to be, scandalous attire. There were also some sculptures of people practicing kamasutra; as you can imagine, our tour guide gave us some very entertaining stories to go along with the sculptures; unfortunately, none of which I can share on here. Just shoot me email if you have any questions.

When we got back to Alipura, some of stayed up playing a card game called Oh Hell. While I have been traveling, I have learned that a deck of cards can make any moment enjoyable. Always carry a deck while traveling.
